A little about us

Welcome to the Challas website.

We are a brand new spit roast company based in Belfast. We specialise in providing good quality local meat with a variety of side dishes to suit all tastes.The inspiration behind the product is Charl Marais, a South African braai BBQ extraordinaire, who decided that Northern Ireland might appreciate a little of the flavour of his home country. After attempting many times to braai in the Irish weather, Charl decided that he needed something which would work just as well under cover as outdoors so he began to design and build a spit roast machine which is not only smoke free, but cooks the meat perfectly in a few hours, enabling us to cook it completely fresh for you onsite.

Charl has imported his vision of the traditional spit roast South African style, but has built everything himself here in Belfast using locally sourced material.  All we need is a well ventilated indoor area or a space big enough to erect a gazebo which will protect your food and your friends from any unpredictable weather.

We provide a whole pig, lamb or beef ribs at an affordable price which will make an original and memorable centrepiece for your gathering and because we cook everything fresh onsite, it means that you can sit back and watch the whole process while savouring the mouth watering aroma of meat roasting on a spit.
